AIM & MISSION
of the Scientific Manual Therapy Group
Aim of OMT-Greece is the prevention and a conservative approach to treatment of painful or not dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system both at peripheral joints and those of the spine. Assessment and treatment take into consideration not only the biomechanics, pathology, pathophysiology and other relevant sciences, but also the biopsychosocial framework of any individual patient seeking the assistance of a specialized physiotherapist in manual therapy.
The therapeutic model followed focuses on the individual patient suggesting their greatest possible, active participation in the treatment, with the shortest rest period and quick commencement of therapeutic exercise according to the development of symptoms.
Mission of Scientific Manual Therapy Group:
·provision of an enhanced quality postgraduate specialization for qualified physiotherapists and maintenance of established quality educational standards
·provision of internationally certified specialization on the specific subject of (Manual Therapy) as a type of specialization in Physiotherapy
·promotion of Manual Therapy to the Greek society and the national and private health system
·protection from individuals and bodies attempting to usurp the profession of the specialized in Manual Therapy physiotherapist, and recognition of the MT specialization by the Greek state, via the Panhellenic Physiotherapists’ Association (PPA) and the School of Physiotherapy of the National Technological Institute
·promotion of research in the specific field as well as the publication of systematic reviews
·organization of post-graduate seminars, conferences, meetings and clinical workshops
·certification and safeguarding of physiotherapists who complete their training, with simultaneous securing of their professional rights based on this specialized training under the aegis of the PPA and IFOMT
·promotion of Greece at international level with participation in conferences and decision-making actions within IFOMT organs
·exchange of views and experiences with member countries of IFOMT, aiming to the improvement of education and clinical application of Manual Therapy
